I wonder if I put a few words here?

Week 6 blog

With the development of multimedia in recent years, the form of short video almost occupies the whole multimedia market. The main reason is that visual reading is more receptive and novel. Personally, I like to use Tik Tok to watch beautiful girls and funny content. I used to interact with short videos as an audience, but today I made my first video. I have to say that video editing and shooting require a lot of experience and skill.
First of all, in the original video, this is the video I recorded in the UK on holiday before. There is no background music. When I added the audio, I found that I also needed to cut the audio length to match the original video length. It cost me a lot of time.
Second, I added text at the beginning and end of the video, especially at the beginning, and I added animation effects that made the whole theme disappear one or two seconds into the video.
Finally, I want to say that this course is almost over unconsciously, and I have learned a lot of novel multimedia skills. I believe it will help me a lot in my future life. Thank you to my team members and professors.

Weekly post 5

During this week, I finished Assignment 3, but the process was not smooth. In the beginning, I didn’t know what to do, and I communicated with my team members for a long time before I understood all the requirements of Assignment 3. In the process of doing this, I think the most difficult part is to deny the past self because we can’t look at things from an objective point of view, we are always biased and self-satisfied. It’s hard for me to see anything wrong with my Blog. Therefore, I went to my friends to ask for their opinions after reading my article, how they felt about it, how I could do it better, what parts were unnecessary, and so on. With their help, I soon changed my way of thinking. I revised the layout of the whole article and replaced some boring words with pictures. I believe the professor will see my progress from Assignment 3.

Blog 4:Design of Multimedia Learning Objects and Artifacts

Among our traditional multimedia tools, the software we use most is Power Point and Word documents, but for the vast majority of inexperienced Power Point creators, they tend to edit a lot of text on each page of PowerPoint. Such slides are pointless and extremely inefficient, like electronic books to the viewer. The purpose of these software is to help us better understand new things, so it is necessary for us to learn deeply.Personally, I like to leave a large part of blank space on each page of my PowerPoint, because I only need to show the core of each content. When I explain, I will use my own understanding to explain. I don’t want my audience to look at my PowerPoint instead of listening to me. In the process of sharing with others, you can also improve your ability, such as expression, language and logic. I like things that are simple but full of detail.

Canva is a great creative platform. I actually used it a long time ago, but I didn’t really dig into it. To this day, I find that Canva meets all creative needs and is much more convenient and fast than other software. I expect I can experience more fun in the future.

Environment factors:

How to study has always been a problem that troubles most people. People need to learn constantly from birth, but obviously, everyone has different results. Regardless of IQ, the environment is one of the most important factors.

Personal Example:

For example, what kind of family the child grows up in, parents’ way of education, children’s interests, and so on. Although I am now a university student, there are still big flaws in my learning style. Sometimes I feel like I’m not studying at all, I’m just getting things done, and I don’t want to study at all. I need to read thousands of articles and do a lot of homework every day, which makes me have lost interest in learning.

In a big environment:

This kind of situation is very common in China, facing limited educational resources, children have great pressure from childhood, and some parents even enroll their children in cram schools. I have never seen children in any country work as hard as they do in China. They can solve many math questions, even more than foreign university students. But when you ask them what they want to do in the future and why they want to study, they don’t know how to answer. Maybe it’s to find a job when they grow up. Chinese students have lost interest, freedom, and rest. They are not studying, and they are just completing tasks.

Therefore, we need to change this kind of environment. We should give children a happy childhood, cultivate their interests and hobbies, liberate their minds, and use a more efficient way to accomplish what they want to do.

Question: Imagine if you wiped out your environment and put yourself in a new one. Would you be the same person?

Multimedia and Interactive Learning is a new educational means born with the development of science and technology. Pictures, videos, and sounds are more impressive than traditional boring text. I believe it is entirely possible that in the future, dry and boring written records will be completely replaced. Because in the old school education, rote learning is extremely inefficient. Another important reason is the importance of intersection, the need for the brain to exchange information. For example, when we are learning new knowledge, a background, an example, we can try to substitute ourselves, just like “third-person emotion has been proven to be inferior to first-person emotion,” said by Dr Richard Mayer. This is why more and more places start to use multimedia education, thus we need pictures, sounds, words, and communication, especially those who are not sensitive to words, and I believe most people are better at remembering a characteristic picture than writing down words. However, this is far from enough, so some educators start to conduct interaction in class, such as brainstorming, question and answer sessions, and so on. The main purpose is to improve learning efficiency and get students involved in the class. Therefore, multimedia education is very meaningful.

This is my first semester at UVIC. I choose this course because I have never tried it before. I have always wanted to try to be a blogger, but I have not taken action. I hope this class can let me learn some knowledge and methods. So far, I still feel confused about this course, and I don’t know what I will do next. However, I believe that time will solve any problem, and I will skillfully use teaching tools and so on. The professor is very wise, he let us form our own team, which helped me a lot that I can discuss anything with my group members. I am very happy to choose this course. During this pandemic, everyone’s lifestyle has changed, and it may become more difficult. But stay positive for the world. Everyone is free to have their own ideas, should be respected and understood. I believe empathy and critical thinking are very important for this course. Finally, I wish everyone can stay healthy, taka care yourslves!

Welcome and Introduction

Before proceeding with this first blog post, we expect you to consider your privacy preferences carefully and that you have considered the following options:

  1. Do you want to be online vs. offline?
  2. Do you want to use your name (or part thereof) vs. a pseudonym (e.g., West Coast Teacher)?
  3. Do you want to have your blog public vs. private? (Note, you can set individual blog posts private or password protected or have an entire blog set to private)
  4. Have you considered whether you are posting within or outside of Canada? This blog on opened.ca is hosted within Canada. That said, any public blog posts can have its content aggregated/curated onto social networks outside of Canada.

First tasks you might explore with your new blog:

  • Go into its admin panel found by adding /wp-admin at the end of your blog’s URL
  • Add new category or tags to organize your blog posts – found under “Posts” (but do not remove the pre-existing categories or sub-categories).  If you would like to add more course categories, please do so (e.g., add EDCI 306A with no space for Music Ed, etc.)
  • See if your blog posts are appearing on the course website (you must have the course categories assigned to a post first and have provided your instructor with your blog URL)
  • Add pages
  • Embed images or set featured images and embed video in blog posts and pages (can be your own media or that found on the internet, but consider free or creative commons licensed works)
  • Under Appearance,
    • Select your preferred website theme and customize to your preferences (New title, etc.)
    • Customize menus & navigation
    • Use widgets to customize blog content and features
  • Delete this starter post (or switch it to draft status if you want to keep for reference)

Do consider creating categories for each course that you take should you wish to document your learning (or from professional learning activities outside of formal courses). Keep note, however, that you may wish to use the course topic as the category as opposed to the course number as those outside of your program would not be familiar with the number (e.g., we use “Multimedia Learning” instead of “edci337).

Lastly, as always, be aware of the FIPPA as it relates to privacy and share only those names/images that you have consent to use or are otherwise public figures. When in doubt, ask us.
